Ludwig Paischer says Schluss to judo
Austrian judo hero Ludwig Paischer retired from judo. After fighting all Olympic Champions since 1996 and all World Champions since 2001 Lupo’s body became tired. “The body and mind would no longer participate”, he said. "I am too old, it is a torment every day, and as an athlete you have an expiration date, as hard as it sounds." After Four Olympic Games it’s “schluss”.
Paischer was the highlight in Austrian judo for more than 15 years and won Olympic silver in 2008 and World silver in 2005 and bronze in 2007. He won two European titles in 2004 and 2008, both Olympic years and booked his first major international title in 2001 in Leonding and concluded his last victory fifteen years later in Oberwart in February.
The European Championships this year and Olympic Games were a disappointed and Paischer feels he’s not only getting older, but the body doesn’t cooperate anymore. Game over for Ludwig Paischer, a big bow for this Austrian star.
